A Little Closer, Please
2 min read

I've always thought there's something particularly lovely about being held by someone you adore.
Not necessarily during a romantic evening.
Sometimes it's just an ordinary afternoon.
A movie playing in the background. A conversation that has wandered so far from its original subject that neither of you remembers how it started.
You're sitting together, comfortably close.
And then, without saying a word, he wraps his arm around you and pulls you a little closer.
Which is quite amusing, really.
Because you were already close.
Very close.
But apparently, there was still a tiny bit of space left, and he wasn't particularly happy about it 🤭
I love that.
The way someone can make you feel wanted without saying a single romantic thing.
The little adjustment of an arm around your waist.
The way you naturally settle against his chest, as though that was exactly where you were supposed to be sitting all along.
And sometimes, just when you think you've found the perfect position, he pulls you closer again.
Honestly, where exactly are we supposed to go from here?
But you smile.
Because you know perfectly well you don't want to move either.
And then there's the perfume.
Oh, the perfume.
Nobody talks enough about that particular consequence of cuddling.
You leave, go about your day, have your coffee, answer your messages, do all the perfectly ordinary things you're supposed to do.
And suddenly, there it is.
That familiar scent on your clothes.
Perhaps a little in your hair.
A tiny reminder of an embrace that ended hours ago.
And for one completely ridiculous second, you're smiling at your own sweater.
Which, I suppose, is a perfectly reasonable thing for a grown woman to do 🤭
I think that's what makes certain moments so special.
Nothing extraordinary needs to happen.
No perfect words. No grand gestures.
Just two people who are already close enough, and somehow still want to be a little closer.
And a perfume that apparently didn't get the memo that the cuddle was over.
Not that I mind.
Some things are rather lovely to carry with you a little longer 🤍
