The Little Things I Secretly Love
2 min read
I have a little confession.
I'm ridiculously easy to make happy.
Sometimes all it takes is the smallest, most unexpected gesture.
And the funny thing is, the person doing it might not even realize how much it means to me.
Like someone remembering how I take my coffee.
Or knowing how much I love sunrises and unexpectedly sending me a picture of one.
Just because they saw a beautiful sky and thought I might like it too.
I don't know why, but I find that incredibly sweet.
The idea that someone could be standing somewhere, watching the morning light, and suddenly think...
She would love this.
And then there's music.
Oh, the songs.
I love when someone discovers a song and shares it with me.
Not necessarily because it's the most beautiful song in the world.
But because, somewhere between the melody and the lyrics, I crossed their mind.
It's such a lovely little way of saying, I was thinking of you while listening to this.
Without actually having to say it.
And yes, I might listen to it more than once.
Possibly an unreasonable number of times.
But who's counting? 🤭
I love the unexpected kisses.
The smiles across a dinner table.
A hand finding mine while we're walking.
Someone asking if I got home safely.
And those hugs that last a little longer than expected.
Especially when you're already sitting impossibly close to someone, and they somehow decide there's still room to pull you closer.
Honestly, where exactly am I supposed to go from there?
I love the silly messages.
The completely ridiculous videos someone sends because they thought I'd laugh.
Even when they're not particularly funny.
Because sometimes the sweetest part isn't the joke.
It's knowing someone wanted to share a tiny piece of their day with you.
I suppose I've always been that kind of romantic.
The kind who notices the little things.
Who remembers the details nobody probably intended to make memorable.
Who can smile at her phone over a photograph of the sky.
Or find herself humming a song hours after someone sent it.
And I rather like being that way.
Because I think there's something wonderful about being remembered in the middle of someone's perfectly ordinary day.
Not because it's a special occasion.
Not because they have something important to tell you.
Just because, for one little moment, something beautiful, funny, or completely ridiculous made them think of you.
And they wanted you to be part of it.
I think that's one of my favorite feelings.
Being included in the little moments.
The ones that don't need a reason.
And perhaps that's my little secret.
It doesn't take much to make me smile.
Just a sunrise, a song, a little affection...
And occasionally, a really good cappuccino.
Although, if someone remembers that tiny little detail about how I like my cappuccino and sends me a sunrise?
Well, that's just playing unfair. How's a girl supposed to resist smiling? 🤭🤍
