The Moments Between the Stories
1 min read

For a long time, I thought the moments worth remembering had to be extraordinary.
A new city.
A great love.
A goodbye that changed everything.
A journey you would talk about for years.
But lately, I’ve started to appreciate something else.
The in-between.
The evenings with no particular plans. The table you choose almost randomly. The drink you order because you have nowhere else to be. The conversations that go nowhere important and somehow make the whole evening better.
Like this one.
Just an ordinary evening in Barcelona. The last warmth of the day, people talking around me, the city slowly turning its lights on.
Nothing extraordinary happened.
And maybe that was the beautiful part.
There was a time when I was always waiting for the next thing. The next trip. The next plan. The next reason to celebrate. The next moment important enough to remember.
Now, I’m learning that life doesn’t only happen in those moments.
It happens here, too.
In staying a little longer. In ordering another coffee. In laughing about something completely insignificant. In wearing the red dress simply because you felt like wearing the red dress.
Maybe happiness is quieter than we imagine.
Maybe sometimes it’s just looking around on an ordinary evening and realizing that, for once, you’re not waiting for anything else.
You’re already there.
And I think those are the moments we almost forget to remember.
The ones between the stories.
