The Monday After a Lovely Little Adventure

2 min read

Have you ever come back from a beautiful, romantic weekend and wished you could have stopped time for just a little longer?

I think we've all been there.

Especially when the weekend involved the ocean, lovely little places for dinner, long walks under a sunshine that autumn had absolutely no business giving us, and the kind of laughter that makes your cheeks hurt.

Apparently, the universe decided to lend us a few days of spring.

And I was more than happy to accept.

There was even a different kind of sunrise.

The sort you enjoy from a warm bed, with coffee in your hands, nowhere to be, and absolutely no reason to hurry.

And perhaps a few cuddles.

Because, really, who says no to morning cuddles?

Certainly not me 🤭

But then Monday arrives.

With its alarm clock, unanswered emails, meetings, and the rather unreasonable expectation that you're supposed to behave like a responsible adult again.

Honestly, Monday has terrible timing.

One minute you're walking by the sea, deciding where to have dinner, and laughing over something completely ridiculous.

The next, you're staring at your calendar, wondering how it's possible to have so many meetings before lunchtime.

And yet, there's something rather lovely about coming back.

The suitcase is unpacked. The coffee is back in its usual cup. Life carries on.

But that silly little smile seems determined to stay.

Someone at the office notices.

“You're in a good mood today.”

Well, yes.

The weekend was beautiful.

The weather was wonderful.

And perhaps there was something…

Or someone…

Who made it all a little more special.

But let's not turn this into another office investigation, shall we? 🤭

I think it's perfectly lovely to return to your ordinary life with a heart full of happy little memories.

To get back to work, answer your emails, attend your meetings, and still catch yourself smiling at something nobody else knows about.

And if that smile follows you around for the rest of the week?

I suppose there are worse problems to have.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a very important Monday to get through.

Deadlines, responsibilities, all the usual things.

And one tiny, completely unrelated thought that keeps interrupting my concentration…

What on earth am I going to wear to dinner next weekend? 🤍
